Northern Ireland Transport

The transport authority in Northern Ireland is Translink. This is divided into three sections. UlsterBus – bus lines to all parts of Northern Ireland and also to some cross-border cities in Ireland. CityBus which covers Belfast City and surrounding area.

And there is also Northern Ireland Railways. The main railway lines are to Larne, to Bangor, to Londonderry via Portrush and across the border to Dublin. For each line there are a number of stations on the route. The Belfast Dublin line is served by the famous Enterprise Express, now a super-modern train with all comforts and services.

There are two major airports in Belfast with air links to many destinations. Belfast International Airport was previously known as Aldergrove and opened in 1917. Airport Express 300 is a frequent bus link to the centre of Belfast taking around 50 minutes.

Belfast City Airport, now renamed George Best Belfast City Airport connects to many Irish and Uk destinations plus a range of European cities. Airlink buses depart frequently from the Airport terminal and there is also a bus link to the train station at Sydneham with twice hourly trains to Belfast during the day.
